In my good age (I'm a grandma of two beautiful girls) I "accidently" inherited huge amount of stamps aprox. 1920-2000 from many countries - USA, Australia, UK, Europe etc. I've learned how to wash them and sorted by countries (this is still unfinished process). It become a hobby and I realy start to enjoy it. But I also realised that it is impossible to keep all of them and I would love to learn how to sell online. Sadly my computer skills are limited and English is my third language as well (I always affraid to make mistakes..) That make things difficult for me but I determinate to learn everything with your help. I realised a software for stamp collectors would be a great help. They are hundreds !!! How to choose the right one?
I would be very appreciate if some body could share with me expierence and knowledge . Maybe there are some useful links for beginners what I should know?

Thankx. Omamma in Australia

g'day omamma,

i have 2 good friends in nambucca heads near sydney (400 miles north on the coast) that i email frequently. my two nephews were born in sydney when their parents lived there for business purposes. as for your stamps, perhaps this link will help. i am an APS member and they give a lot of advice to novice collectors. also put your message on the philatelic forum where other collectors can also assist you. and what other languages do you speak? let us know as there are many nations represented on delcampe; and collectors from those nations may also give some assistance. hope this helps.

Good morning.
Thank you very much for your kind response. I'm sure it will help me.
My mother's language is latvian, but as most of latvians I can speak russian as well.
I wish I could have a bit more time for learning and searching around. That 's all I need.

Thanx again.

Hello,

Couple of pointers. 1. See if you can join a stamp club 2. Many stamps are worth more if on complete covers so do not rush to wash them until you have more knowledge.

thanks

Hi Omamma,
Welcome to Delcampe from another philatafilly! (Female of the species!)
I found the easiest way to start was to choose 1 or 2 countries and I then bought a catalogue of that country. You can find these on Amazon etc or from a stamp shop. The stamp club I joined also had various that I could borrow.
I sorted the stamps into years etc using the catalogue and then either saved for my own collection or listed on the auction. Once you have done this for 1 country it is surprising how much easier it is for the others.
Hope this is of help. If you need help with which catalogues to get let me know.
Best wishes,
Sandra

Hallo, Clarence. Unfortunately your kind advice reached me far too late. I 've already destroyed a lots of beautiful covers some years ago because of total lack of expierence and any knoledge.
Anyway, it is too late .

Dear Sandra, it is so nice to receive some support from others. Thank you so much. Actually I did not have problems yet with sorting stamps. I sorted stamps of many countries. Now I should learn this site, how it works and how to list items for sell. In order to gain some expierence I intend to buy some stamps first.
I hope to get some further advice from you should I need any help in the future.

Kind regards
Omamma
